How to tell if your package is from 1989: They continued the striped top and grid background from the year prior, but instead of micros with dimensions, they pictured a mustang and noted "Ultra Fast" and that these were "the fastest micro machines ever!" They added a three color flag behind the series number on the front of the blister. The cars still attached to a mirrored surface. The copyright date will most likely be 1986,1987,1988, but some may also have 1989. The 1989 version also notes that Micro Machines is a registered trade mark of Galoob in the copyright notices.
