There were
many imitators of the famous Micro Machines, including
a
few efforts by Mattel. But as the old commercials
used to say,
If
it doesn't say Micro Machines, than it's
not the real thing.
Galoob introduced
the world to Micro Machines back around 1987.
These
original
Micro Machines featured a lot of detail for their small
size,
most of them were only 1½ inches in length!
Galoob
continued to
release more colors and new castings for over a decade.
Sadly,
Hasbro bought out Galoob in 1999. After half-hearted attempts to keep
the
brand alive through themed sets such as Winner's Circle and GI Joe, and
an attempted
revival lacking the quality that made Micro Machines so popular, Hasbro
decided
to just relegate the brand name to "Titanium" series of movie
themed toys.
